The Office of the Attorney General has sought to correct what it described as misinformation circulating on social media about the duration of the current State of Public Emergency (SOE).
In a statement, the office said the SOE remains in effect until midnight on June 17, 2026, and not June 3, 2026, as some social media posts have claimed.
The Attorney General’s Office outlined the constitutional process governing the emergency measures and explained that the SOE was first declared by the President through Legal Notice No. 39 of 2026 with effect from March 3, 2026.
