The OfÂfice of the AtÂtorÂney GenÂerÂal has sought to corÂrect what it deÂscribed as misÂinÂforÂmaÂtion cirÂcuÂlatÂing on soÂcial meÂdia about the duÂraÂtion of the curÂrent State of PubÂlic EmerÂgency (SOE).
In a stateÂment, the ofÂfice said the SOE reÂmains in efÂfect unÂtil midÂnight on June 17, 2026, and not June 3, 2026, as some soÂcial meÂdia posts have claimed.
The AtÂtorÂney GenÂerÂal’s OfÂfice outÂlined the conÂstiÂtuÂtionÂal process govÂernÂing the emerÂgency meaÂsures and exÂplained that the SOE was first deÂclared by the PresÂiÂdent through LeÂgal NoÂtice No. 39 of 2026 with efÂfect from March 3, 2026.
