Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has again taken Trinidad and Tobago’s battle against guns, drugs and transnational organised crime to the world stage.

Addressing the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, yesterday, she warned that sophisticated criminal networks posed a direct threat to the security, institutions and development of small states.

Persad-Bissessar emphasised that the illicit trafficking of firearms and narcotics has become a major security threat not only to T&T but to the wider Caribbean.
