Eight sus­pects were ar­rest­ed, and three firearms, am­mu­ni­tion, and quan­ti­ties of nar­cotics were seized dur­ing a se­ries of an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions over the week­end.

In the first in­ci­dent, of­fi­cers from the Na­tion­al Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit, sup­port­ed by the Ca­nine Branch and the Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fence Force Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit, pro­ceed­ed to a house in the St He­le­na dis­trict o Ju­ly 6. Three lo­cal men were ar­rest­ed and eight Span­ish-speak­ing women, in­clud­ing two mi­nors, were res­cued.

Au­thor­i­ties no­ti­fied the Im­mi­gra­tion En­force­ment Sec­tion and the Counter-Traf­fick­ing Unit. A pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing one round of am­mu­ni­tion was al­so seized.
