Man wanted in connection with business man’s murder at Region 8

(Kaieteur News) – Police on Monday issued a wanted bulletin for a man identified as Gavin Johnson also known as Max in connection with the August 20 murder of Godfrey Gill aka “Chucky” at Mowasie Backdam Landing, Region 8.

Johnson’s last known addresses have been listed as: Mowasie Landing, and 250 Vryheid Lust, South, East Coast Demerara (ECD). Anyone who has information about his whereabouts can report to the nearest police station or call telephone numbers, 225-8196, 911, 268-2328, 268-2329, 226-3411, 225-8196 or 227-1159.

Gil a businessman and former murder accused was shot dead on Thursday August 20, 2026. Police said Gill was in the vicinity of a shop at Mowasie backdam when a loud explosion was heard. Moments after, he was found lying motionless on the ground. Gill had only recently been released from an 11-year prison sentence after admitting to manslaughter. He was previously charged with murder during the course of a robbery, but pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter after admitting to his role in the 2016 killing of 76-year-old David Kissoon. In April 2022, he was sentenced to 11-years in prison with the time he served on remand deducted.
