Of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion ar­rest­ed two per­sons and seized an AR-15 ri­fle and rounds of am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing two an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es in the San Fer­nan­do dis­trict on Tues­day.

Around 5:55 pm, a team of of­fi­cers in­clud­ing Ag/Sgt Seecha­ran, PC Mar­cus, PC Laloo, PC Adams, PC Ho­sein, and PC Ram­sa­roop were on op­er­a­tional du­ty when they pro­ceed­ed to a res­i­dence at Latchoos Road, Debe, based on in­tel­li­gence in­for­ma­tion. The of­fi­cers en­tered the premis­es un­der the au­thor­i­ty of Sec­tion 12 of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions and con­duct­ed a search. Dur­ing the search, the of­fi­cers found one AR-15 ri­fle con­tain­ing twen­ty-three rounds of 5.56mm am­mu­ni­tion con­cealed in­side a speak­er box in a store­room area.

The oc­cu­pant of the premis­es, a 40-year-old fe­male, was cau­tioned and ar­rest­ed. She was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion. She is ex­pect­ed to be for­mal­ly charged for Pos­ses­sion of a Pro­hib­it­ed Weapon and Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion.
