RELATIVES of deceased divers Yusuf Henry and Kazim Ali Jnr are confident that their family members will also be contacted, following the $3 million ex-gratia payment made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to the lone survivor of the Paria diving tragedy and two families.
Yusuf Henry’s sister Afeisha said that, with Thursday’s presentation, they no longer feel forgotten, while Ali’s mother said it was wonderful.
Henry said that the payments brought hope. “Next month will make it four years and at least we see some light...We don’t feel forgotten any more, that something just happened and it just went in the wind. At least we are being acknowledged now, whether it be 1%, 2%, it’s better than none. That’s what happened in the past, for the past four years.”
