“If you are saying you are trying to compensate a family for a situation like that which happened under our Government, $1 million per diver? That is crazy. One million dollars to each family, knowing that each diver had multiple children. How far is that going to carry four children on behalf of Yusuf Henry?... It is not enough.”
So said Affisha Henry, the sister of then 31-year-old Yusuf Henry, who, along with three other divers, perished in the Paria pipeline tragedy three years ago.
Speaking with the Express shortly after the $5 million payout announcement was made by Prime Minister Stuart Young at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall, Port of Spain, Affisha Henry said: “You cannot put money to life.”
