The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has launched an immediate investigation into a leaked audio recording circulating on social media that is alleged to contain intercepted communications, following growing concerns over a possible breach of national security.
In a statement issued yesterday, the TTPS said Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro had directed Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Andy Teewarie to lead the investigation.
The probe will determine whether the recording is authentic, whether it constitutes a communication lawfully intercepted under the Interception of Communications Act, and, if so, how it came to be publicly disseminated.
