The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) acknowledges the circulation on social media, of an audio recording which is alleged to be intercepted communication. The TTPS advises that under the Interception of Communications Act, Chap. 15:08, communications may only be lawfully intercepted pursuant to section 6(2) or section 8 of the Act.
The TTPS further reminds the national community that the Act expressly forbids the unauthorised disclosure of intercepted communications:
⢠Section 8(6) provides that āa person who discloses the existence of a warrant or an application for a warrant⦠commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of fifty thousand dollars and to imprisonment for three years.ā
