The Police have launched a probe into the discovery of an AK-47 rifle and magazines, which were found on Wednesday at C Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Based on reports received, Police, acting on information, went to the area in the wee hours of Wednesday, where an empty plot of land was searched. During the search, one AK assault rifle with its serial number filed off, along with two AK magazines, was found inside a bag lying in a drain. No ammunition was found.
The firearm and magazines were seized and taken to the Turkeyen Police Station as investigations continue. At the time, no arrests were made.
