The United States is helping Trinidad and Tobago with its war on illegal drugs and ammunition and is not using this country as a base to gather intelligence on Venezuela, says Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Sean Sobers.
Speaking at a news conference at the ministry’s Port of Spain headquarters yesterday, Sobers said that the United States Marine Corps boots will be in Trinidad this month for a six-day training exercise with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).
The US Marine Corps 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), deployed to the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), will conduct exercises with the TTDF from November 16–21.
