NEARLY two years since the Princes Town Fire Station, plagued by structural and safety concerns, shuttered its doors along the Naparima Mayaro Road, a new temporary station has been opened in the region.
The former Unemployment Relief Service (URP) sub-office located along King Street in Princes Town will now house its own new fire appliance, four officers and 24 firefighters according to Deputy Chief Fire Officer Ansar Ali.
He told the Express yesterday that the housing was not intended to be permanent, as repairs to the emptied former station are ongoing.
