THE Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago (LATT) has condemned People’s National Movement (PNM) chairman Marvin Gonzales’ public burning of a court order as “distasteful, unbecoming, and unnecessarily performative,” but has ruled that the matter does not warrant disciplinary proceedings against him.
The decision follows a formal complaint by attorney-at-law Aaron Mahabir, who questioned whether Gonzales’ conduct was consistent with the ethical obligations of an attorney and warned that publicly burning a court order undermined respect for the Judiciary.
