Three outstanding nationals will soon head to the United States after receiving Fulbright scholarships to pursue tertiary studies through one of America’s most prestigious international exchange programmes.

Established by the US Congress in 1946, the Fulbright Programme has provided academic opportunities for more than 400,000 students worldwide, with 500 Trinidad and Tobago nationals benefiting from the initiative.

Speaking at a reception on Tuesday for the US Embassy’s Fulbright Trinidad and Tobago Scholars, Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath expressed optimism that the scholars will return home and contribute to the country’s development.
