MORE driving under the influence (DUI) offenders are court-mandated to participate in Arrive Alive's rehabilitation courses than those who partook under the demerit point system, according to its president Sharon Inglefield.
Calling the system's potential scrapping 'a slap in the face' to families affected by road fatalities, Inglefield yesterday told the Express that despite an abundance of social media backlash, the non-governmental organisation (NGO) remained committed in its efforts to promote road safety throughout the country.
Last Thursday, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced plans to scrap the system, which came into effect in 2020.
