President of the Trinidad and Tobago Taxi Drivers' Network Adrian Acosta has welcomed the Prime Minister's announcement to scrap the demerit points system but believes measures should remain in place for some traffic violations.
Speaking to reporters on May 22, at Library Corner, San Fernando, Acosta said the organisation had been against the demerit point system being introduced and had been complaining about how it was being applied to its members.
"We don't believe that everything should be removed from the demerit points but most of those charges that they had with the demerit points in it was not good for the population, the driving public."
