As she recalled the pain of losing two siblings to separate vehicular accidents, President Christine Kangaloo Âyesterday pleaded with the Government for Âenhanced road safety measures, given the decision to scrap the Demerits Points System.
Kangaloo made the appeal while delivering an address at the ceremonial opening of the First Session of the 13th Parliament, at the Red House, Port of Spain. Sitting among her audience were Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and members of the new government.
The President broached the issue with âapologiesâ as she turned to âan area of suggested parliamentary action that is deeply personalâ.
