Opposition MP Marvin Gonzales has described the public’s response to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and ministers in her Cabinet on Saturday during African Emancipation Day celebrations as an effect of citizens feeling betrayed.
While delivering her African Emancipation Day address at the Arise Monument near the Treasury Building on Independence Square, Port of Spain, on Saturday, Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin was heckled.
Benjamin, who spoke before the annual procession, drew boos from sections of the crowd after mentioning Persad-Bissessar.
