Several motorists were fined after pleading guilty to a series of traffic-related offences when their matters were heard recently at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. Romeez Abdool Hakh, a 31-year-old drone pilot of Plot ‘C’ Perseverance, Essequibo Coast, was charged with obscuring the identification mark on the front of a motor vehicle. The offence was committed on June 4, 2026, at Anna Regina Public Road and was laid under Section 13 of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.
The matter was heard on Tuesday and Hakh pleaded guilty, He was fined $100,000. In default of payment, he will serve three months’ imprisonment. Meanwhile, Ram Naitram, a 36-year-old mason of Friendship, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was charged with refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test. The offence occurred on June 7 at Lima Access Road, Essequibo Coast and was laid under Section 39B(5) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.
Naitram appeared before the court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty. He was fined $25,000 or, in default, will serve two months’ imprisonment. Also appearing before the court was Kristoff Sankar, a 24-year-old self-employed bodywork technician of Charity Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast. Sankar was charged with breaching the conditions of a general dealer’s permit, operating a tinted motor vehicle, and having an illuminated indicator in breach of traffic regulations. The offences were committed on June 12 at Reliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
