AN inmate has been charged by the Anti-Extortion Unit as part of its ongoing investigations into a signi­ficant extortion ring which had been operating within several business communities across Trinidad and Tobago.

Police, in a media release yesterday, stated the multi-agency investigation named “Operation Extortion Eradicator”, headed by ACP Richard Smith, “has successfully dismantled the ring, by targeting individuals on the outside, as well as high-risk inmates operating from within the nation’s prisons”.

The release reported the first breakthrough in the matter came in January 2025 when Sabrina Kal­leecharran was arrested and charged with five counts of deman­ding money with menaces and one count of robbery with aggravation.
