EXTORTION is not just about plainly demanding money by menaces from business owners; it’s also about shaming people into parting with their hard-earned cash to avoid being sexually exposed.
So said a senior officer in the Anti-Extortion Unit (AEU) who spoke to the Express yesterday after the arrest of two men at their Caparo homes for extortion—also called demanding money by menaces.
Police said that between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. yesterday, a team of AEU officers (led by ACP Richard Smith and including Cpls Baksh and Rampersad) visited two homes, one at Hall Street, off Todds Road, and the other at Todds Road, Caparo, where two men—ages 32 and 38—were arrested.
