Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has unveiled an action plan aimed at deepening cultural recognition, economic empowerment, and reparatory justice for the descendants of enslaved Africans.
Delivering the feature address at the well-attended African Emancipation Day celebrations at the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, yesterday, Persad-Bissessar praised the Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad and Tobago (ESCTT) for its local, regional and global trailblazing work.
To honour the committee’s contribution, she announced that her Government would direct the relevant ministries to partner with the ESCTT on a focused four-point action plan to engender:
