THE Opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) is calling for a criminal investigation into the award of billions of dollars in contracts for Housing Development Corporation (HDC) projects.
Former prime minister Stuart Young yesterday urged the population to watch how its taxpayer money was being spent, claiming most of the companies receiving billions in contracts have no experience in building houses for the HDC.
The Port of Spain North/St Ann’s East MP, who was speaking at a news conference at the Office of the Opposition, Port of Spain, said the Opposition will not allow a repeat of a “cartel-type” situation as occurred under a previous United National Congress (UNC) administration.
