AS the borough of Arima celebrates its 137th anniversary, community leaders, including Arima Mayor Balliram Maharaj and Opposition Leader and Arima MP Pennelope Beckles, have underscored the town’s historical significance and called for urgent revitalisation efforts to support tourism, culture, and public services.
Speaking to the media after the Thanksgiving service for the anniversary at the Santa Rosa RC Church yesterday, Maharaj reflected on Arima’s deep cultural legacy and his own lifelong connection to the borough.
