Road upgrades advance at Annandale, Coldingen

Road and drainage improvement works are advancing in Annandale and Coldingen, East Coast Demerara (ECD) as Government continues to expand infrastructure to support growing communities and new housing areas. Vice President (VP) Bharrat Jagdeo, in a social media post, highlighted the ongoing works, which include road widening, asphaltic concrete paving, drainage upgrades and the construction of new bridges. In Annandale, the main access road is being widened to two lanes and paved with asphaltic concrete. Reinforced concrete drains are also being constructed as part of the works. Three new bridges are being built to improve access between residents and the developing housing scheme, while also linking several roads within the community. At Coldingen, approximately 1,500 metres of roadway is being upgraded. The section stretching from the Public Road to Line Top is being widened to four lanes, while the remaining section is being developed as a two-lane asphaltic concrete roadway. Reinforced concrete drains are also being constructed along both sides of the roadway to improve water management and drainage in the area. According to Jagdeo, the projects are intended to strengthen the wider road network, improve drainage and provide residents with safer and more reliable access to their communities and new housing areas.
