He’s happy to receive the money, but Christopher Boodram, the lone survivor of the Paria diving tragedy, has described Prime Minister Stuart Young’s announcement of the $1 million ex-gratia payment as nothing but “politricks”.
In an interview with the Express yesterday, Boodram said Young still needs to seek forgiveness for his four “brothers” being left to die in the pipeline and he should ensure those who are liable are prosecuted.
At the post-Cabinet news conference last Thursday, Young announced that Cabinet had agreed to make $1 million in ex-gratia payments to each of the families of the four deceased divers, as well as to Boodram.
