$138M to build scanning rooms at Lusignan, New Amsterdam Prisons

(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Home Affairs will spend approximately $138,483,800 for the construction of two scanning rooms for the New Amsterdam Prison in Region Six and the Lusignan Prison on the East Coast of Demerara.

This is according to information gathered from the latest tender opening at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office.

According to the tender minutes, the construction of the New Amsterdam Prison scanning room is estimated at $57,304,400 and a total of 22 contractors have submitted bids for the project. While at Lusignan Prison, the project is estimated to cost $81,179,400. Some 21 contractors are vying to execute the works there.
