Minister of Finance Davendranath Tancoo says he cannot yet give a date for the presentation of the 2026 national budget because key documents are still outstanding.
Tancoo was speaking on Wednesday night to the media at a reception in honour of 2025 Chevening scholars from Trinidad and Tobago, hosted at the British High Commissioner’s residence, Beaumont Road, Maraval.
The national budget is traditionally presented in September/October each year, following which it is debated in both Houses of Parliament and passed. The 2026 budget is highly anticipated and will be the first for the Finance Minister and the UNC Government, which was elected on April 28.
