(Kaieteur News) – Justice Zamilla Ally-Seepaul is set to hear an urgent bail application on November 10, 2026, brought on behalf of 20-year-old Police Constable Ryan Greene, who remains remanded at the Camp Street Prison over allegations of leaking public CCTV footage to Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed. The legal proceedings, filed under action number 2026-HC-DEM-CRIM-FDA-52 by attorney Darren Wade on instructions from the rank’s father, Randy Greene, seek to overturn a lower court ruling that denied the young officer pre-trial liberty.
Greene was taken into custody on October 26 from the force’s command centre in Liliendaal, where he worked monitoring government surveillance feeds. On October 30, Detective Cadet Officer Stephan Hinds laid a joint indictable charge against Greene and Mohamed at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, accusing the officer of unauthorised obtaining and transferring of electronic data related to an October 12 shooting incident involving police officers on Barr Street, Kitty. Following objections by state counsel, Magistrate Abigail Gibbs remanded both men until November 24, citing the severity of the charge and potential interference with ongoing police probes.

According to affidavits filed in the high court, state investigators claim Greene provided a video-recorded confession alleging he downloaded the footage onto a flash drive between October 23 and 24, delivered it to Mohamed’s Houston home, and received an $800,000 cash payment. The state also claimed that Greene’s mother, Nikita Greene, handed over $300,000 of the alleged proceeds to police ranks. However, the defense application firmly denies that Greene committed any unlawful act, pointing out glaring inconsistencies in the state’s timeline, including particulars of offence that list the data transfer as occurring on October 13, eleven days prior to the dates referenced in Officer Hinds’ own affidavit in defence.
