A coalition of child rights advocates is calling on State authorities to take urgent action following disclosures in the Teaching Service Commission’s (TSC) 2024 Annual Report of multiple allegations of sexual abuse involving teachers and students.
The report, laid in Parliament on November 21, noted that 16 allegations of sexual abuse involving teachers and schoolgirls were recorded over the past year.
Thirteen of those allegations, involving five teachers, are currently before the TSC tribunal. According to the report, none of the matters is before the courts.
