(Kaieteur News) Some 37 of the 44 bidders seeking to construct a timber wharf and shed at Mahaicony Central, Region Five, submitted bids below the government engineer’s estimate of $33.7 million for the project.
According to information provided by the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), the project is being executed through the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) at an estimated cost of $33,720,500.
Of the 44 bids received, 37 contractors submitted bids below the engineer’s estimate, while five bid above the estimated cost. The forms of tender submitted by two bidders were not completed and signed, and no bid amounts were listed.
