Mechanic jailed 2½ years for felonious wounding

A 42-year-old mechanic from Foulis Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD) has been sentenced to two years and six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of felonious wounding. Orlando Simpson, also known as “Lepo”, was charged under Section 57(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

Police said Simpson was arrested on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in connection with an alleged felonious wounding. He was subsequently charged on Friday.

Simpson appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded guilty to the offence.
