Eighteen-year-old Jaden Jackson of Tucville, Georgetown, and Mark Major, 25, of Waterloo Street, Georgetown, who were arrested following the robbery of an auto body technician in Covent Garden New Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Monday, were charged and remanded to prison.
It was reported that the victim was walking in the Covent Garden New Scheme with his cellular phone in hand when the two men approached him from behind on a motorcycle. One of the suspects, armed with a handgun, dismounted the motorcycle, held the victim at gunpoint and relieved him of his cell phone before escaping with his accomplice.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Police, and the cell phone was later recovered along with the arrest of the two suspects. Meanwhile, Jackson and Major were charged and appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to them. They both pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison until July 17, 2026.
