A 36-year-old man has been sen­tenced to 14 years in prison af­ter con­fess­ing to rob­bing and rap­ing his aunt.

The man, whose iden­ti­ty was with­held to pro­tect the vic­tim, re­ceived the sen­tence on Wednes­day af­ter plead­ing guilty to rape, griev­ous sex­u­al as­sault, and rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion be­fore High Court Judge Kathy-Ann Wa­ter­man-Latchoo.

The man was al­leged to have at­tacked his 54-year-old aunt on June 29, 2012, when he was 23 years old. He went to her home in West Trinidad to re­turn $100, which he had bor­rowed from her two weeks ear­li­er.
