AN Arima man has been sentenced to almost 12 years in prison for the abduction, grievous sexual assault, and robbery with violence of a woman more than a decade ago.

Delano Robertson, of Malabar, Arima, received the sentence from High Court judge Kathy-Ann Waterman Latchoo yesterday, following his guilty pleas to the charges.

Despite the sentence, Robertson is expected to be released from prison in less than a month.
