A 31-year-old man was denied bail after he appeared in the South Criminal High Court on July 2, charged with robbery with violence against a 79-year-old woman during a home invasion two months ago.

The pensioner of Quarry Village, Fyzabad, told police she was in the kitchen on the ground floor of her two-storey home around 9.45 am when two masked men entered and announced a robbery. Both suspects hit the woman several times and tied her hands and feet together. They began to ransack the property stealing $5,000, two televisions and two 20-pound gas cylinders before fleeing on foot.
