Police in the South-Western Division have arrested two 18-year-old suspects in connection with a brutal home invasion and sexual assault in Fyzabad, marking what authorities call a major breakthrough in dismantling an organised criminal ring operating in the area.
The attack occurred around 11 p.m. last Saturday, when two masked men, one armed with a cutlass, broke into the home of a 64-year-old woman and her 68-year-old husband, who is recovering from a stroke. Both were assaulted in their bedroom before the intruders took $5,000 in cash, jewellery valued at $44,000, mobile phones, and U.S. travel documents.
According to police, the husband was beaten with the cutlass while his wife was sexually assaulted during the ordeal.
