The Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion says pre­lim­i­nary re­ports sug­gest the sev­en-year-old pri­ma­ry school stu­dent hos­pi­talised af­ter a school in­ci­dent may have been ac­ci­den­tal.

The boy was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal af­ter com­plain­ing of ab­dom­i­nal pain and is now in crit­i­cal con­di­tion with a rup­tured spleen. His moth­er said a teacher told her her son was pushed at school, but po­lice said the in­juries ap­pear in­con­sis­tent with a sim­ple push.
