AN investigation has been launched by the Ministry of Edu­cation after a seven-year-old ­ended up as a patient at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the San Fernando General Hospital.

The ministry, in a statement to the Express yesterday, said it is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and concern, although it noted preliminary reports indicate the incident appears to have been an accident.

It said divisions under the ministry and the Police Service visited the school, and the ministry will continue to closely monitor the situation.
