Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tors have been di­rect­ed to pur­sue crim­i­nal charges in con­nec­tion with the po­lice in­volved shoot­ing death of Joshua Sama­roo, fol­low­ing con­sul­ta­tions with the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP), ac­cord­ing to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS).

Speak­ing dur­ing a me­dia brief­ing to­day, Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Al­lis­ter Gue­var­ro said the di­rec­tive came af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­viewed the case file and con­sult­ed with the DPP re­gard­ing the in­ci­dent, which took place on Jan­u­ary 20, 2026, at the cor­ner of Col­lege Road and Dook­iesingh Street in St Au­gus­tine.

Gue­var­ro said in­ves­ti­ga­tors had been in­struct­ed to pro­ceed with a se­ries of crim­i­nal charges aris­ing from the events of that day.
