Police investigators have been directed to pursue criminal charges in connection with the police involved shooting death of Joshua Samaroo, following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
Speaking during a media briefing today, Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro said the directive came after investigators reviewed the case file and consulted with the DPP regarding the incident, which took place on January 20, 2026, at the corner of College Road and Dookiesingh Street in St Augustine.
Guevarro said investigators had been instructed to proceed with a series of criminal charges arising from the events of that day.
