Police have detained a suspect in connection with the theft of a $112,000 Nissan Note that was taken under the pretense of auto repair services arranged through Facebook Marketplace.
The victim, A 27-year-old of Cunupia, told police she advertised for an auto body technician on July 13. A man who identified himself as “Alim” responded and claimed he worked at a garage on Peters Ville Road, Chin Chin, Cunupia.
On July 21, Sampson handed over her silver Nissan Note to the suspect, expecting repairs to be completed by the next day. But when she contacted “Alim” on July 22, he stopped answering calls. All efforts to locate him and her vehicle failed.
