A 24-year-old man from South Oropouche was abducted, beaten, and held against his will on Wednesday after falling victim to a robbery linked to a vehicle sale advertised on Facebook. A coordinated police response led to his safe rescue later that day.
The victim, a resident of Dow Village, had travelled to Ninth Avenue North, Barataria around 9:45 a.m. to meet with individuals regarding the advertised sale of a Nissan Wingroad, priced at $27,500.
Upon arrival, he was confronted by four men, all armed with firearms. The suspects assaulted him, seized his cellphone, and stole his Nissan Tiida motor vehicle. They then demanded the $27,500 in cash and forcibly placed him into another vehicle, transporting him to Scotiabank at Trincity Mall in an apparent attempt to access the money.
