(Kaieteur News) – Australian company Liberty Metals Ltd has wasted no time in commencing its maiden exploration at its recently acquired gold projects located in one of Guyana’s prominent mining districts.
The company has already disclosed that it is not targeting a small discovery but instead looking for a multi-million-ounce gold discovery. It was on 12th August, when Liberty announced that it had acquired a 90% interest in the Oko North and Oko South Gold Projects, a package of 40 granted medium-scale mining permits covering approximately 180 square kilometres (km²) in Guyana’s Oko gold district, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) – an area where nine million ounces of gold have already been established by other foreign players.
According to Liberty Metals, field teams have already mobilised to conduct geological mapping, structural interpretation and surface sampling, with initial work focusing on numerous existing artisanal gold workings across the properties. A systematic soil geochemical programme involving approximately 5,000 samples is also expected to begin shortly.
