(Kaieteur News) – The newest foreign company to enter Guyana’s gold sector, Australian-based Liberty Metals, has touted Guyana as a jurisdiction of choice for mineral exploration, citing its geological prospectivity, legal framework and straightforward permitting process.
The company also highlighted its ability to secure a large, contiguous mining package in what it described as a world-class area. On August 12, Liberty announced that it had acquired a 90% interest in the Oko North and Oko South Gold Projects, a package of 40 granted medium-scale mining permits covering approximately 180 square kilometres (km²) in Guyana’s Oko gold district, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) – an area where nine million ounces of gold have already been established by other foreign players.
During a recent webinar on its Guyana asset acquisition, Liberty’s Technical Advisor, Christopher Piggott, explained that the technical team was given the task of finding a high-quality asset for Liberty.
