ForĀmer prime minĀisĀter and enĀerĀgy minĀisĀter StuĀart Young has acĀcused Prime MinĀisĀter KamĀla PerĀsad-BissesĀsar of misĀleadĀing the pubĀlic about the staĀtus of the US OfĀfice of ForĀeign AsĀsets ConĀtrol (OFAC) liĀcenceāa critĀiĀcal regĀuĀlaĀtoĀry reĀquireĀment for any enĀgageĀment with Venezuelaās state-owned gas reĀserves.
In a FaceĀbook post yesĀterĀday, Young, the MP for Port-of-Spain North/St Annās West, quesĀtioned whether GovĀernĀment had in fact seĀcured a conĀfirmed OFAC liĀcence, deĀspite pubĀlic stateĀments sugĀgestĀing othĀerĀwise.
āSo no OFAC liĀcence in hand, even though you said you obĀtained an OFAC liĀcence for DragĀon when you arĀrived in T&T on WednesĀday night,ā Young wrote, alĀlegĀing that GovĀernĀment was misĀleadĀing the pubĀlic about the leĀgal and diploĀmatĀic staĀtus of the project.
