A fruit vendor was beaten with several objects and robbed by men he knew while at his stall at the Preysal Flyover.
Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, the victim was at his fruit stall located along the Preysal Flyover, near the Preysal gas station when a white Nissan B14 pulled up. Five men, three known to him, exited the car with a steel pipe, cutlass, wood and a shovel. They approached the fruit vendor and dealt him several blows about the body, causing injuries. They also took $2500 from him before re-entering the car and escaping.
The victim was taken for medical attention at the Couva Health Facility. He was treated for his injuries and discharged. Police officers continue enquiries into the incident.
