ForÂmer ChilÂdren’s AuÂthorÂiÂty chairÂman Hanif BenÂjamin was yesÂterÂday grantÂed $170,000 bail on two sexÂuÂalÂly reÂlatÂed ofÂfences against a 15-year-old boy.
BenÂjamin, 47, a clinÂiÂcal therÂaÂpist and trauÂma speÂcialÂist, was warned by MasÂter DeliÂcia BetheleÂmy in the San FerÂnanÂdo MasÂter’s Court to have no conÂtact with the vicÂtim.
The charges alÂleged that BenÂjamin enÂgaged in sexÂuÂal comÂmuÂniÂcaÂtion with a child and in a sexÂuÂal acÂtivÂiÂty in the presÂence of a child on JuÂly 15 this year, via a WhatÂsApp video call. He was inÂterÂviewed by ofÂfiÂcers of the Child ProÂtecÂtion Unit on TuesÂday and charged by Cpl Kassie on WednesÂday at the CouÂva PoÂlice StaÂtion.
