A million-dollar underground economy is thriving within the nationâs prisons, Prison Officersâ Association general secretary Lester Logie has said.
Logie made the disclosure yesterÂday during an interview on TV6âs Morning Edition programme. His response came in relation to an Express article titled âPrisons Service vows crackdownâ which was published yesterday.
In that article, acting Prisons Commissioner Elvin Scanterbury had vowed to tackle rogue officers âhead-onâ after Mondayâs arrest of an off-duty woman prison officer who was allegedly attempting to enter the womenâs prison with contraband.
