300 vials of Fentanyl Injection 0.05mg/2ml ampoules have gone missing, due to a delivery discrepancy at a public health facility.

According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use as an analgesic (pain relief) and anaesthetic.

It is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine, 50 times more potent than heroin as an analgesic and has been recognised as the trigger of an opioid crisis in North America.
