Mayaro MP Rushton Paray says when he faced Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the screening for the seat on Monday night, he was treated with respect and kindness.

Paray, who has been the United National Congress (UNC) Member of Parliament for Mayaro for two terms since 2015, said he remains optimistic but if he is not selected for the general election he will support his competitor, Nicholas Morris.

Persad-Bissessar heads the UNC screening committee.
